Suzanne Scacca

Meet Suzanne Scacca

Suzanne Scacca has been writing about technology in various forms for over a decade as a freelance writer. What her clients don’t know, though, is that technology absolutely terrifies her.

So, in her spare time, she writes short stories about these terrifying technologies — the video games that distort, the medical devices that fail, the digital money pushing people out of society, and more.

Born and raised in a small town in Connecticut, Suzanne and her senior pup now wander around the United States in search of new places, interesting people, and unique attractions.

About Step Into

While Suzanne has had hundreds of articles, tutorials, and other types of marketing content publicly published (and hundreds more ghostwritten), the fictional works in Step Into have never seen the light of day. (That’s about to change.)

One of them got close back in 2015. A very early version of “Cage Match X” was chosen as a semi-quarter finalist in Screencraft’s Short Story Writing Competition.

More recently, “The Chicken Bone” was shortlisted for The Letter Review Prize in 2024. Although “Sensei” didn’t make it as a finalist, the judges of the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival noted that it got close.

Suzanne received a publishing offer in 2026 for Step Into and decided to turn it down. Never good at compromising her vision, she’s decided to take things in a different direction. If you subscribe to her blog and Patreon, you’ll see what her uncompromised vision for these short stories looks like!
